QPR forward Charlie Austin to undergo tests on suspected hamstring injury

Queens Park Rangers will assess a possible hamstring injury to striker Charlie Austin. The striker limped off after 58 minutes of the 4-0 thrashing at local rivals Fulham, live on Sky Sports. Neymar confirms Manchester United talks

Barcelona star Neymar says he “had conversations” with Manchester United over a potential move during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old Brazil star was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last month, but Barcelona claimed the speculation was just a “rumour”.

Now however, Neymar has confirmed there was an approach from Louis van Gaal’s men, who were attempting to line up a move for the player next summer.

“We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete,” Neymar told ESPN. “I heard that there were offers, but none made it to me.”

Neymar is contracted to Barca until 2018 and the Catalan giants are hoping to extend the players deal, who signed for them from Santos in May 2013.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu last month quashed all talk of a move for the player, a view which was echoed by the forward’s agent Wagner Ribeiro.

Had to agree with the article during the week regarding Sir Alex Ferguson. It felt like clickbait done in a different manner. One thing I have noticed is that Steven Gerrard seems to be getting away with it a bit. Revelations that he hates Diouf, Pearce and Atkinson weren’t quite that revealing, but his memory of the Chelsea game is simply laughable. Fair enough Liverpool went gung-ho for a win when all they needed was a draw, but the goal they conceded was hardly a result of their style of play. Knocking the ball backwards and forwards waiting for half-time at 0-0 is hardly terrible tactics. Say what you want about the slip but I remember how Gerrard played in the second half of that match. A selfish man on a one-man mission to try and save the team, it was like he was getting paid per shot. Saying he had a lump in his throat when he was dropped against United, well he hardly proved Brendan wrong.

John Terry: Chelsea deserve respect after 'boring' taunts

John Terry insists now is the time to give Chelsea the respect they deserve as they stand one win away from being crowned Premier League champions.

The Blues captain scored as they came from behind to beat Leicester City 3-1.

He says they deserve credit after being taunted as "boring" by Arsenal fans.

Terry, 34, said: "We've been the best side all season. We deserve a lot of respect. We've been very good all season so let's hope we win it on Sunday."

The title will be confirmed if the Blues beat Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (13:30 BST kick-off).

Second-placed Manchester City, 13 points behind, cannot overhaul Chelsea but third-placed Arsenal, on the same points total as City, could theoretically overhaul them as they have a game in hand.

Victory on Sunday would give manager Jose Mourinho his third Premier League triumph with the club, and the first since he returned to the club for a second spell in charge.

The Blues last won the title in 2009-10 when Carlo Ancelotti was manager.

Leicester led at half-time but Didier Drogba equalised early in the second half before Terry and Ramires secured the victory.

"We don't enough credit," said striker Drogba, 37. "We are top of the league, we have the most points and people find us boring because we have been top since day one."

Chelsea 'phenomenal' - Mourinho

Mourinho, who described Drogba's equaliser as "gold for us", said his players had been "phenomenal" during "a month with problems".

He added: "This was the month when people were waiting for Chelsea to slip up, to lose one game or draw.

"We have played this month without Diego Costa and without Loic Remy, with no other solutions, but this small group were phenomenal.

"We were phenomenal tactically, with team spirit, the way we defended, the way we were clinical with our goal and the stability we showed in every game."

Mourinho called on Chelsea's fans to inspire the team over the finishing line on Sunday, saying: "I hope our fans walk up to Stamford Bridge not celebrating but to play the match with us and push the team - that is the spirit we have in our group."

Jose Mourinho: Fans abuse Chelsea because we are boring

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said his team receive the most social media abuse because they are "boring".

Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out said that of 130,000 abusive Premier League-related social media posts this term, Chelsea had the most of any club.

Mourinho, whose side have a seven-point lead, said: "It's because we are boring.

"We have been top of the league since day one. That is something people in this country don't like."

Chelsea have already captured the first main domestic trophy of the season, beating Tottenham 2-0 in last month's Capital One Cup final,Mourinho's first trophy at the Blues since returning for a second spell at Stamford Bridge on a four-year contract in June 2013.

However, a recent survey found that they fared worst in the Premier League in terms of respect towards referees, to which the 52-year-old Portuguese replied: "I prefer not to answer."

Christian Benteke's hat-trick rescued a vital point for Aston Villa in a pulsating game against Premier League relegation rivals QPR.

QPR led when Matt Phillips headed in Bobby Zamora's deft left-wing cross.

Villa levelled through Benteke's deflected drive, then the Belgian's calm finish put them ahead.

Clint Hill's firm header and Charlie Austin's clinical finish restored QPR's lead, but Benteke's free-kick kept Villa out of the bottom three.

Villa would have dropped into the relegation zone, with QPR climbing out at their expense, had they been beaten by the visitors at Villa Park.

But Benteke's sublime set-piece, which he curled over the away defence into the bottom left corner of the QPR goal, ensured Villa moved up to 16th.

Tim Sherwood's men are three points clear of the third-bottom visitors, who climbed above Burnley with the draw.

However, both sides will be bitterly disappointed not to have taken maximum points. Villa looked sharper and more inventive for larger periods, but their long-standing defensive frailties allowed Rangers to go within sight of a second successive away win.

Chelsea's Premier League title bid will not go off the rails, according to Tony Gale

Sky Sports expert Tony Gale thinks Chelsea can bounce back from Champions League elimination and claim the Premier League title this season.

The London side suffered midweek misery when they conceded late goals to 10-man Paris St Germain in both normal time and extra time, eventually exiting the tournament on away goals.

Already out of the FA Cup, it is now all about the League for the Blues and they currently hold a five-point lead over Manchester City, and also have a game in hand.

Chelsea’s next match is at home to Southampton on Sunday (12.30pm, Sky Sports 1) and Gale thinks there will be a bit of a hangover from Wednesday’s disappointment.

“It will be on their minds without a doubt, because it will be a case of what might have been,” he told The Morning View.

“How they approached the game I thought was wrong and they really got what they deserved.

“But now they can solely focus on the Premier League. That is all that matters and I don’t think there will be any mistakes from here on in. (Manager) Jose Mourinho will demand that of his side.”

Southampton have slipped to seventh in the table and former Saint Jason Dodd thinks they will struggle to finish in the Champions League qualification places.

“I’d love to say yes (they will qualify) but I think we have got to be a bit realistic,” he said.

Their problem of late has been scoring goals. They have a lot of possession but they are not putting the ball away and that is why they have slipped down the table.”

Dodd also says he does not think tiredness will be a huge factor in Chelsea’s hunt for the title.

“People talk about fatigue and how players are struggling,” he said. “I am not too sure about that.

“These players now get so well looked after. John Terry is 34, and he has played in virtually every game.

“Chelsea going out in midweek means they can now concentrate on the Premier League and that will be their aim.”

Defending champions Manchester City have won just four of their nine 2015 Premier League games ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley (4.45, Sky Sports 1).

And Dodd wonders if the City squad is quite as strong as perceived.

“We all know about the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said. “They had key players missing in Yaya Toure and new signing Wilfried Bony.

“Injuries also play a part but, in theory, that is why the squads at Man City and Chelsea are so big, because they are expecting people to step in and do the job.

“For Man City to win four out of nine, you know something is not right, and they have to get better if they are to challenge.

“Is it highlighting that maybe, they have 11, 12 key players and that, after that, the players who have stepped up have not really produced the goods?”
